ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY, CRIMINAL JUSTICE, AND SOCIAL WORK)
AUGUSTA STATE UNIVERSITY (Augusta, GA)

Augusta State University's Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Social Work, with ten full-time faculty, is dynamic and growing with more than 300 majors seeking four degrees. The Department is strongly committed to excellence in teaching, faculty-student interaction and collaboration, and to providing research and service learning opportunities to students. The Department enthusiastically invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Sociology beginning Fall 2009.

Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Sociology. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, potential for excellence in research, a commitment to collegiality, and good department citizenship. ABDs who can document imminent completion will be considered for the position. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

CHAIRPERSON (DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SCIENCES)
ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY (Normal, IL)

Illinois State University invites applications for the position of Chairperson of the Department of Criminal Justice Sciences. The chairperson is responsible for the shared administration of the department's graduate and undergraduate programs including: curriculum review and development, long-range planning, fiscal management, and personnel recruitment, development, and evaluation. The chairperson shall encourage high quality research, teaching, and service and advocate for the resources needed to sustain the department's mission. The chairperson shall develop partnerships within and outside the university as well as promote the department's programs to alumni, business, government agencies, and other educational institutions.

To be considered, applicants must hold a terminal degree in Criminal Justice or a related social sciences field with academic achievement which merits appointment with tenure. The successful applicant will have demonstrated ability in working and communicating effectively with faculty, staff and students as well as success in academic administration. The prospective chairperson must demonstrate the ability and willingness to provide vision and leadership for a diverse department. Salary, Rank, and Tenure: The position is a twelve-month tenure track appointment. The salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included.

The Department of Criminal Justice Sciences and Illinois State University: Illinois State University, founded in 1857, is the oldest public university in Illinois. There are approximately 20,000 students in the six colleges of Illinois State University (ISU).
