Reporting UCR Crime Data

Special district and independent school districts are types of local governments that are not eligible for JABG grants since they rarely have criminal justice functions. Of those that do have law enforcement functions and do report to the Uniform Crime Reporting program, Census designations were used in classifying these agencies. If an agency was designated as an independent agency, the agency was coded as ineligible to receive funding in the JABG program and was removed from the data file. If a parent agency is listed as funding the reporting agency, the crime was attributed to the parent agency.
